REINE
I have the best job in the world. . . but for me, it's not really work. It's a lifestyle. In some of the very first photographs of me, I was either holding a lightmeter, camera or a lens dusting brush. I never considered what I was going to be when I grew up. . . it was never a question, I just always knew.
Photography, and specifically shooting weddings has a direct connection to my lifestyle. Weddings embody the imaginative spirit, the romantic soul and the child in all of us. My entire day is spent watching, interacting and capturing the love that you openly share with your friends and family as well as the amazing details which make your wedding special and different from the rest. How can I not love what I do?
I believe I capture weddings in three distinct ways:
1. Getting to know my clients... their likes, dislikes and personalities and choosing locations or situations to heighten the positive aspects of self. With each wedding I am keenly aware of infusing stylized art direction into uniquely staged portraits.
Generally before a shoot, I will have a complete visual in my mind of a 'piece of art' we can collectively create. These situations usually involve securing unique locations and potential props with lots of dialogue and direction.
2. Long lenses and an open heart. . . I watch life and its vast expressions unfold before me while mingling amongst your guests or on the sidelines. The result is candid lifestyle images that range from soft and romantic to packed with humor.
3. Traditional family portraits. As with every great moment in your life, your family will be there to celebrate with you. I am able to orchestrate these especially important group shots with the same level of care and attention that I devote to the rest of the day.
The most consistant compliment I get at a weddings generally comes from a family member or guest at the end of the night as we are packing up our bags... "I just wanted to let you know i've been watching you work and i had to come over and tell you that you are a fantastic photographer." This is fun for me to hear because of course, the film is still in my bag and the comment is based on my energy and confidence shown throughout the day.
